Our Adoption Process

  • Step 1: Adoption Application

Please start by filling out our application linked at the bottom of this page! This will give us more information about you as well as your other pets at home. Please be as honest as possible!

We do not allow dogs to be adopted as gifts and the main caretaker MUST be an adult.

We do allow apartments with proof of pet policy! Some dogs may not do well in an apartment, but many do! Our main priority is the animal’s happiness in their home. We do not allow pre-adoption puppies to go to apartments due to vaccination status.

  • Step 2: Phone Interview

Don’t stress! If your application has been approved by our rescue and selected by our foster, you will be contacted by the foster or an Ace’s Place Animal Rescue representative. This just gives us the opportunity to know you better and is a great time to ask questions!

  • Step 3: Adoption Trial

If the phone interview goes well and you would like to proceed, we will then move on to either a meet and greet or our one week home trial! Your foster will reach out to help arrange the meet and greet and check in through the trial.

This gives you a risk-free opportunity to make sure our pet is right for your home! If any allergies arise, behavioral issues, or animals not getting along, simply call us and we’ll come get them!

  • Adoption Fees

VIP Dogs have a waived adoption fee

Brachycephalic (flat nose) breeds are $500 due to extra medical care

    All other dogs are $300

All dogs will come fully vaccinated (Age-appropriate), fixed, and microchipped, and records will be transferred. Puppies too young to be fixed while at APAR will be required to be fixed and proof submitted before 8 months of age.

Please understand that it costs much more than our fees to save neglected and high-risk animals. We are not in this business to make money, our only goal is to continue to save more.

  • Adoption Contract

At the end of your home trial, the adoption fee is to be paid and adoption contract will be sent for you to fill out! This includes an agreement to not perform any cosmetic alterations, never surrender your pet to the shelter, and waiver of liability.

If for any reason you are unable to care for your pet, they must be returned to Ace’s Place Animal Rescue and may not be rehomed without authorization.

Puppies too young to be fixed at APAR are required to be fixed before 8 months of age, and proof must be submitted.

Once the payment is complete and papers are signed, they are all yours! We will update their microchip with the information on your contract, and send digital and paper copies of all records to you!

  • What's Next?

After your application is submitted, our adoption processing team will review your application and approve or deny your application. Your application will then be sent to the foster home. Our fosters have the freedom to choose to move forward with any application. With high amounts of applications, we will notify you if you’ve been selected within 48 hours.

If your application is approved, our foster will contact you to set up a meet and greet and/or a home trial. Unfortunately due to high application volume, we do not inform denied applicants automatically, but we’re happy to answer any questions over email. We also highly recommend signing up to foster, as fosters get first choice at adoption!
